In Australia we use hardwoods (Eucalypts) for the smokeboards which is different from the US style plank cooking.

These boards are great. I ordered them and really enjoy. I haven't quite mastered the timing (sometimes the boards convex) but the salmon is awesome.

You forgot to mention that the cedar plank needs to be soaked in water for at least an hour or more. Good recipe, looks great!

They are not cedar but Australian hardwood. No need to soak them.
