Gaza In Rubble, But IAF Strikes Fail To Stop Rocket Fire At

Six Palestinians were killed in IAF strikes on Sunday bringing the death toll of Palestinians killed since tthe weekend to 70. Early Sunday the air force targetted Hamas leader Ismail Haniya's office in Gaza demolishing the building. A statement issued by Hamas following the strike declared that Israel had crossed all the red lines. After dawn broke Sunday Palestinians surveilled the damage caused in the Air Force strikes from the night before.03/02/08

Israeli military brings in the bulldozers to uproot trees in the way of its "security" wall and where they are in the way of illegal settlements. Many olive trees are 700 to 1000 years old. These precious trees are being replaced by roads, infrastructure, Israeli military barracks & factories with massive destruction of the environment. If Israel has its way, neither the trees nor the Palestinians who have cared for them will survive the barbaric ethnic and environmental cleansing of Palestine.

Palestinian farmers have made their living

for centuries from olive cultivation and olive oil; 80% of cultivated land in the West Bank and Gaza is planted with olive trees. In the West Bank alone, some 100,000 families are dependent on olive sales. Today the olive harvest provides Palestinian farmers with up to 50% of their annual income, for many their basic means of survival. Palestinian farmers are prevented from reaching their agricultural lands to tend and harvest their crops.

Israel's Nazi policy has meant steady increase in malnutrition. flourmills shut down & wheat supplies are gone. Bakeries stop baking bread. Industries shut down because they can't get imports of raw materials to produce goods. Any agricultural goods cannot export their harvests & containers sit at the crossing points, rotting. It is a violation of international law to collectively punish more than a million people for something they did not do, but Israel ignores this and the Geneva convention.

Palestinian families in Gaza are unable to offer their children more than one meager meal a day, mostly rice and boiled lentils. Fresh fruit and vegetables and meat are beyond the reach of most families. Fish is unavailable in markets because the Israeli navy has stopped Gaza's fishermen. 70% of Gaza's workforce is now unemployed, 80% of its residents live in grinding poverty. About 1.2 million of them are dependent for day-to-day survival on food handouts from U.N. or international agencies.

IDF have fired canisters of forbidden nerve gas into houses in the West Bank. It is standard Israeli military procedure to conduct tank raids & take over civilian homes as snipers' nests and hideouts, holding the occupants at gunpoint without food or water. According to the testimonies of victims and from Israeli soldiers, this process involves theft of property, vandalism and violence against unarmed civilians. It happens to Fatah families, not just Hamas.

About 40 percent of West Bank is off-limits to Palestinians. There are more

than 120 settlements built on confiscated land & separate roads for the 250,000

Israeli settlers. More than 600 vehicle checkpoints and obstacles slow travel

in the West Bank, an area smaller than Delaware. Soldiers admit their job is to bulldoze Arab homes in Nablus-as well as threaten, arrest, injure or kill Palestinians with impunity. Protesters including 8 year olds are shot or locked up for days of beatings.
