What kind of dog is he? I am trying to figure out what kind of dog I have, and they look almost identical.

Have a stop doing that word or sound... With my dogs its a loud "SHUSH" its not a bad thing it just telling them thats not what I am asking them to do. If they get a shush they know to stop and look for direction. Also I taught my dogs behind a truck.. I hooked up to them and had my bf drive, they love to run behind the truck. they learned that to have the harness on and me on skis ment they could run.. its a state of mind now

Virginia, awesome video! Homer looks like he's in his element skijoring. You're a beautiful fluid skier!

Hey if you could answer this question for me that would be great. How did you train your dog to pull? My dog will pull for a small amount of time and then slow down and sniff around.

I think a lot depends on the type of dog you have. I've had a lab that did the same thing--run as hard as he can then get distracted. Homer is a sled dog, so he's bred for pulling. He is young, though, and enjoys sniffing midway through a skijor too. What was most helpful for us was getting together with a friend who has a few experienced skijor dogs and just skijoring behind them for increasingly longer distances. I would recommend trying that, or getting into a race just for fun.
