@mathias921 USB 2.0 has 4 pins, 2 of which is just 5 volt positive and negative, and the other 2 carries data. USB 3.0 has 9 pins, 7 of which is data, so that is 3.5 times the speed right there. The remaining speed increase is by improvements in the protocol. I have a feeling that USB 3.0 connectors are going to be fragile because of the additional pins though.

eSATAp (eSATA/USB) is more economical & easier.
1) 50% of the notebooks out there have eSATAp
2) SATA is in all machine. Upgrading is just a ZERO driver USD 12 delock bracket. 99.9% compatibility as it makes use of onboard SATA.
3). NCIX, Crunchgear have proven that the more economical eSATAp is as fast if not faster than USB 3.0
4) eSATA is found in many NAS. (Note: you need port multiplier feature)
5) eSATAp is ALSO USB 2.0.
6) eSATAp can hotswap!. Can function as IDE mode.
Excellent video. I think Robert excells doing these kinds of tech interviews. Takes me back to those huge geek out channel9 videos.
USB3 looks great. I want!
