Might as well feature one of the most popular and well-known singleplayer level pack. Released episodically, They Hunger is simply one of the best HL mods out there.

The plot involves an unnamed writer who, after a car crash, ends up in a zombie-infested town. Episode 2 goes into the history of the invasion, and Episode 3 is where you stop the onslaught.

Sure, it doesn't really add much, but it brings in a creepy atmosphere that only vaguely resembles the game it's based off of. It features a few new weapons, mostly taken from TFC and other games, but they're a fresh change from the Half-Life reskins.

This was made as a promotional for PC Gamer magazine, and each episode was released in yearly installments, but the main links should give you all three episodes.

Manke, now part of his own Black Widow Games, is making a Source engine remake called "They Hunger: Lost Souls." It's been in development for a long while, though.

This video features the end of Episode One, where the player fights through the infested town, gets to the police station, and finds out something really disturbing.

but at some points its a lil dark. I reccomend turning up ur brightness at the volcano, some parts are pitch black lol

This game is fully ported to the Sega Dreamcast now, all 3 episodes. Great game I love it.
