My ZX Spectrum +3 with a Papaya Labs DivIDE IDE board, a compact flash card and a home made RGB cable. The DivIDE board lets me load .Z80 images and TAP files from memory card in seconds. The RGB cable provides a crisp, clear image and is plugged into the DB9 video port on an old Commodore 1084S monitor.

I would have killed for this setup in 1989 ;-)

PS: I don't work for the people who made the board, I'm just really happy with it. It came from http://www.papayalabs.co.uk/

  • no chance of +d whacker challenge for divide nmi button please?

  • awesome choonage going on right there ;-)

  • @schneil I am doing the "Nightfall" +3 fix, well trying to.. I want to keep the tape deck input for just that.. I am trying to make it stereo.

  • @cosine303

If its the sound out of the TV out, its pretty dire.

However the sound out of the tape port or monitor port is good.

You can wire up or buy a SCART lead, connect it to the monitor and all should be OK.

  • did you do the sound mod fix? if it's a mk 1 +3, then it sounds even worse.. I just got one off ebay and its nasty sounding.. so need to fix the sound.

  • I'm just wondering how to get RGB output on regular rubber Speccy... I guess they haven't changed ULA for 128k machine have they... Of course RGB is the only GOOD output, composite sucks and RF is just a big joke... any 80s machine that has only RF simply sucks at TV output (Atari 2600 comes to my mind)
