@GasDrillingTruth - I had a water well damaged in a house fire. The water now smells of sulfur. There is no drilling near my house but it must be the gas industry's fault. There are many reasons water can smell/taste bad that are NOT related to natural gas drilling. It's not frack fluid seeping upward since the viscosity of the fluid prevents it from coming up even under pressure.

You can talk as nice as you want to those PR departments, and I have for 5 years now, and played their games and it gets you no where!!

EXACTLY! There are so many other chemicals that have lots of smells also. Let me correct myself methane may not smell but it has lots of other chemicals along with it. My body can tell you when methane is around and compare it to a methane detector and its readings I am a geiger counter for methane it feels some days! Listen to those who have lived the nightmare!!!!!!
-
no it doesn't, they add it in
-
they add the odor to the natural gas, actual methane does not have a smell, any methane that has an odor coming out of the well bore is from the formation it self. look up your gas companies pr department like i said. i know many people in those departments and you need to talk to them nicely and they'll be sure to help you out

since when do these companies will help us out. And flaring is worse than the chemical itself because they can't burn it hot enough to make not as lethal. Do your homework if you don't believe. Natural gas has an odor added to it so you CAN smell it. Methane does smell and when I have 1700 ppm of methane in my house when they were offloading sourcrude 7000 feet away downwind you would believe. I surely had your attitude until my life depended on moving away from it.

What planet do you live on? I had to move from my home town, have doctors letters stating their alleged illegal release of H2S (rotten egg smell) and our water was decominated. If my water smells like gasoline obviously it was contaminated somehow. Living in a dream world is deadly these days.

methane smells
why are you going around posting propaganda? natural gas has absolutely NO odor. in fact, odorants have been added to natural gas ever since 1937, just so if there was a gas leak in your house or building, there would be some way to detect it. this isn't done until it goes to the gas company, so if the water smelled like gas (which i doubt) then it's not because of drilling, it's the gas company's fault and would have happened regardless of where the gas was drilled. stop spreading lies.

So you are calling this lady a lier. Propaganda is something a large organization does - like a global corporation's repeated TV ads - misleading the public. This women is just telling of her personal experience - she says her "water smells" - and a report today by REUTERS - says the people of hickory - no longer drink their water - so you would say this is also propaganda. Here's the bottom line - a culture that destroys its environment for profit is doomed!
