Over a hundred Indian parliamentarians are urging their Prime Minister and the Foreign Ministry to put pressure on Burmas military regime.
The Indian Parliamentarians Forum for Democracy in Burma (IPFDB) is submitting a petition calling for the release of democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi.
[Sharad Joshi, Upper House of Indian Parliament]:
"We are writing to the PM, we are writing to the External Affairs Minister and we will try to raise this question every time possible in the forum of parliament.
Parliamentarian Sharad Joshi added it is equally important to create public awareness in India about the lack of democracy in Burma.
Aung San Suu Kyi had been under house arrest on and off for twenty years since winning Burmas presidential elections.
Now the Nobel Peace laureate is facing trial for allegedly breaking her house arrest. The military junta accuses her of giving shelter to an American citizen who swam to her lakeside home.
maybe they paid that dude alot of money to swim to daw aung san suu kyi house so that can keep her longer they don't wanna set her free i think it was all a set up.
