Basic procedure. I would have been more detailed but time didn't allow. (10 min limit)

Engine is a B200E but the same basic procedure applies to all Volvo redblock engines.

Refitting is in Part 2.

Please watch in HD.

  • Good Job! T

  • thanks ! very helpful =)

  • Can you define "a very large bolt"? My collection of fasteners outside the range of wood screws is fairly limited.

  • How would you know if ur timing belt is bad?

  • I had no idea you had this great stuff uploaded, I guess there is thread I have missed at V3M ;-)

As my car is at it's sorry state, I have taken out front grill and radiator, with those and the bonnet away there is actually nicely room, but it is quite bit of a job to take them all out for just timing belt change.

Biggest trouble I have had is with tensioner as I wanted to replace my tensioner, but spring was so tight that I could not make it move at all by hand. Fixed by cutting spring :-)

  • Hey, just wanted to say thanks a lot for posting these videos, you just saved me a lot of money.. i watched your video and changed my own timing belt on my volvo 245 B230K 88' today for the total cost of 69,- danish kroner ( apr. 6-7 pounds ) It was very easy.. thanks again!

  • Nicely done sir. On cars that have a manual transmission, what you can do is to put the car in the highest gear and then apply the emergency brake as tightly as possible. If you are finding the car still wants to move have an assistant press on the brakes as hard as possible.

On a car that doesn't have LH 2.4 you won't have those holes in the flywheel, but I do like this method.

If one has an auto car, you basically need the volvo tool. THanks for posting this!
