Warning unsolicited advice ahead. You would be more persuasive if your original arguments were founded and concentrated on a moral basis, with the positive aspects of following the morality were secondary. For example, "Stealing my money to build roads is evil and immoral, weather we are better off or worse off is irrelevant. But I also believe we will all be better of as a result because...."

The worst thing that could happen though is when the government contracts private companies. Such as Haliburton and Blackwater. Which leads to inefficient overspending, and corruption, and both bodies are to blame.

Haven't we seen what capitalizing a health care system can do in the US? The US spends almost twice as much as every other industrialized nation and the results are awful. The ratings and statistics of other universal systems in the world clearly speak for themselves AND everyone gets comprehensive coverage which is the moral thing to do anyway.

@JacobSpinney About the monopoly: it can perfectly emerge with libertarianism. simply because price and direct quality are not the only factors. There is also reach for example. An example with cafés; people have a maximum radius to which they will go for a café, in that sector, they are most likely to go to the closest one, even if it is a bit more expensive. If a company can afford to implant themselves sufficiently to break the competition, then once the competition is broke it can raise price

@JacobSpinney About social security: you can, of course, make a private foundation instead, but that means you make that money unavailable, thus reducing the economic progress of your country. So it's not a good idea.

Not true private companies short and cut corners thus effecting safty.

@JacobSpinney So what happens if you go on someone's property and their air is filled with toxic poison. There was a sign posted -- oh well!
I'm a libertarian, but it is our duty as human beings to protect the earth for its own sake.

It seems that I agree with you.
A few points:
The Chesapeake bay bridge is another example of private sector doing better than government funding.
And who sues who when the air is being polluted? No one owns the air.

1:30 You may not own the air on someone else's property. But you definitely own the air that is on your property and if someone wants to pollute it, they should be held responsible.

Doctors can't just up the price if the government is paying their paycheck. The way it actually works is that the government controls the prices because the doctors work for the government therefore the prices are actually lower. We have public healthcare in the country where I live. I'm not saying it's the best, but you were wrong to say that the prices will go up under a public healthcare system.
