  • i can't stand gastineau. he started the whole celebration after a non scoring play thing. Now someone tips a ball or runs for 10 yrds they act like they won the superbowl. I always admire Joe Klecko for calling gastineau out for his gay celerbration dance and what a selfish thing it was.

  • JETS beat RAIDERS

  • Yes I remember watching that game and Jackie Slater [HOF OT for the Rams then] slammed Gastineau's sorry ass to the ground. A big fight ensued and then Gastineau looked really stupid after that. Nice to see someone hand it to him. They changed the rule on celebrations that off-season cause of his stupid lame dance.

  • Does anyone remember in the following year after this Playoff Game when the Rams went to Shea Stadium to play the Jets? Mark Gastineau sacked Vince Ferragamo and then did his little "Sack Dance", and boy did it piss off the Rams! A big fight ensued thereafter. Fines and suspensions came next.

Even today, I'm still laughing about it. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .

  • The schmuck fell down during his corny sack dance lmfao

  • New York Sack Exchange!!

  • @WEINBAUER Yep.

  • @Edd1e8. Deacon didn't like the run nor did many pass rushers. Mark just couldn't make the adjustment of the pass to the running back and a TE chopping him on the weak side on 3rd downs. He would sulk.

  • @Jelperman - what numbers? I didn't know they tracked that stuff.

I watched plenty of football in the 80s and NEVER remember Gastineau being touted as being even decent against the run by announcers and other players. Not saying analysts are always right -- I'd be interested in a different perspective. I remember even Paul Maguire (not necessarily unbaised LOL) showing replays on NBC's pregame shows where Gastineau would get absorbed by an OL or not stay at home on run plays.

  • @Edd1e8 Really? When exactly was he "killed on running downs"? The Jets were very good against the run back then, and the average per carry was LOWEST for runs that went to Gastineau's side.

You're peddling fact-free BS that was debunked over 20 years ago in Football By The Numbers.
