I think those who say Salieri was not a good composer don't understand the significance of Mozart's work, and just how revolutionary it was at the time. It's easy to criticize Salieri by comparing him to Mozart, but that is not how his work should be judged.

quello in realtà è un'attore, si chiama Luca Lombardi e interpreta un giornalista che vuole sapere dalla Bartoli perchè le piace così tanto Salieri...(Da qui il titolo del docu-film) E lei per spiegarlo glielo fà ascoltare!!

@Thrax1982 I absolutely agree with you..Salieris recordings have started to appear in the last 20years. There are certainly many more composers to be discovered by record-companies.

@mztguitar I have been a fan of Salieri since mid-80S..but finding something by him in the music shop is another matter...everywhere in Europe you will find lots of recordings of Mozart..Karl Bohm,Karajan,Galway etcetc.....The recordings by Salieri I found by chance..one in Andorra, one in Naples, two in Zurich but not even the shop attendent knew much about him..he was a genius whos music I find more interesting than Mozart.

It's just not Salieri, the entire classical period is like a black hole,

there are plenty of even even more underrated composers out there,

Salieri at least has the benefit of a famous name so people can search for his music, even if only out of curiosity.

@am1966ath, yeah I'm actually seeing more recordings and performances of his music however not as many as I would like to see but it's good people is giving the recognition he deserves.

@mztguitar Unfortunately the fame of Mozart put a 200years shadow over the genius of Salieri..fortunately he is being discovered now...was the same with Vivaldi..I hwas also forgotten for 200years.
