In the 1969--70 season, the Knicks had a then-NBA record 18 straight victories en route to 60-22 record, which was the best regular season record in the team's history. After defeating the Bullets in the Eastern Division semifinals and the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Division finals, the Knicks faced the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.
I missed the last 16 seconds of the Cincy game.I figured it was over and went to

@geocgeo Sharman and Auerbach both were great strategists and contributed dearly to the nba. I won't deny that, but you also have to note some factors that were to their advantage during the 60s. Not only did the league had fewer teams, but the league at the time was still predominantly white. Most of the colored players were gathered around in Boston whereas other teams carried mainly white players. So it was all about Auerbach's way of doing business.

Of course the Lakers won 33 straight it took a coach who during his playing career was a member of the Boston Celtics (NBA hall of famer Bill Sharman.) If you played for Red Auerbach you learned how the game should be played.

@onetalltxn This was my favorite season of any pro team sports in my life.

One wonders why Cincinnati didin't call time-out and take the ball at mid-court. They might've at least had a shot. Guess we'll never know.

I remember watching the cincy game. And it is exactly like i remember. The 69-70 Knicks will always be my heroes. The greatest "team" that ever played in any sport if you ask me. My life as a sports fan was never better than that magical season 40 years ago. The knicks played with an unselfishness and beautiful choreography that you will never see again. The NBA is barely watchable today. LONG LIVE THE 1970 WORLD CHAMPION NY KNICKS!

In the Cincy game, Robertson fouled out with 1:49 to play. He finished the game with 33 points and 10 assists. Two of Robertson's fouls were deliberate fouls late in the 1st qtr ordered by Cousy, to avoid a player getting an easy basket. Of his 2 free throws at 1:53, Clyde said after the game "I wouldn't have slept for days if I had blown those two. I was just thinking of Philadelphia lst week when I made only 2 of 7 from the line"

@d4seasons After Willis intercepts the ball at 2:05, it looks like Clyde Frazier is trying to tell Reed to stop. Clyde is clearly running toward Willis with his arms up. I wonder if Willis lost track of the score. By the way, if time didn't expire, it was definitely a charge on Willis because Stormin Norman Van Lier had established position.
