I used this truck to haul 20-40 junk cars a week, to the local wrecking yards in 1999-2003. I would go out and buy them and resale them for always a profit, especially since I only had $700 in this fine haul truck, [easy to turn a profit that way],and it just kept towing and towing to the dismay of my competitors who were driveing $50,000 new trucks and just flat out could not compete with my prices, it was real bad when their trucks would break and to save $ they had to call the old "Dinosaur" to rescue them,lol...

  • What was wrong with the original rear end?

  • @NathansBackwoods My fault! I ran it low on grease and it started making noise. It leaked grease a little and I forgot how long it had been since I had checked it.

  • you gonna restore it? or sell it? what other vehicles do you own? do you keep them or just sell em?

  • @caraddict27 I have 21 old cars, some I hope never to sell, and some I hope to sell. I like my "dinosaur" just the way it is, however I do need to get it more road worthy again.

  • Wow, 20-30k miles hauling cars around with a 50 year old truck? Now that's proof they don't build em' like they used too, lol.

  • It was unbelievably reliable too, I bought it off my friend Robert with the 59 caddy and the hotrod shop on here. I joked with him that he could have given me a bumper to bumper warranty and it wouldn't have cost him a dime! This old truck bothered my tow truck friends who were trying to do the same job and make wrecker payments with a newer truck. With this truck, I could pay more for a junk car and sell it for scrap and still make mo money than the competition, so I was busy/truck wasreliable

  • It looks like the one of Disney's "Cars"

  • Wow very cool did you scrap the cars you towed

  • Wow, what a beautiful machine. I am only 20 years old and I love my technology but it amazes me to see these old trucks still running like they did back in the day. I am from Kenai , AK. I am a small town kid.

I was out on my snowmachine one day and I ran across this old man and asked him if I could use his phone. He replied "What phone?" I must have sat there for 3 hours and listened to all these stories he had to tell. He had all these old vehicles on his land and every one had a story.

  • @restodan you gotta cb radio in it. so you can talk to people on the highway.

  • i plan on restoring my grandfather's 1952 chevy 3100 looks to be in the same condition but was sitting for 15 to 17 year it has a after market 235 strait six, you think it will start if i prime the carb and with some new gas and oil?

  • Reminds me a bit of Mater...

  • sound of that old metal gives me a hard on....

  • Thanks for posting the cool old wrecker vid. I love the truck. Awesome that you met the original operator....way cool.

  • It looks like a '53 Chevy truck since it has vent windows, push button door handles, and the 6400 script on the hood is the 1953-1954 style. One way to know is to decode the vin number. Thanks for the videos. I have a '54 4100 1-1/2 ton truck.
