2007 Pontiac G6 coupe start & freeway drive

This is a friend's 2007 Pontiac G6 GT coupe. Black on black, 19,670 miles, 3.5 V6, 4 speed auto. It was interesting to see how this compares to my 2008 Toyota Solara.

i wonder why they never gave the 3.4,3.5,3.8, and 3.9 engines a 6 speed tranny

@ghost1103 well those are somewhat outdated compared to the newer 3.6. The 3.4 and 3.8 haven't been used in a while and the 3.5 and 3.9 are really only used now in older designs like the Chevy Impala and Buick Lucerne

Another thing worth noting is that I have yet to drive a car that matches the ride quality of the Solara. The G6 has a pretty good ride, but the Solara is quiet & buttery smooth; even cruising at 80 mph, it doesn't feel like you're going fast compared to many other cars

How do you think it compared to your (totally cool) Solara?

Basically, the G6 is sportier, but the Solara has more of a focus on luxury. I think the G6 sits a little lower, and has a bit firmer ride, but the Solara is more comfortable. The 3.5 V6 in the G6 has better low end power, but the VVT-i 3.3 in the Solara has noticeably better high end passing power. I'd be interested to see how the G6's 3.6 and 3.9 compare. Of the two, I think I like the Solara better but I do really like the G6 coupe

I have the same car: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible. I love it, but at the same I wish I never got it. One, because it has a couple of problems that the Car Fax report didn't tell us about before purchasing. Secondly, even though it drives good, I still feels kind of cheap. Its feels as if it was just poorly put together if that makes any sense. But other than all the problems, its a pretty good car.

@purp24s They sure are... my friend had a red one, well his moms lol ...um, one nite we were ridin around and got hit :-/ drunk driveer hit us. KABLAMM!!!! SCRRAPE!!! POW!! Airbags bustin our chops, It al happened so quick :-( His mom was pissed!!!! man.. we stil goin to court for that lol umm yea.. too bad. 08 solara RIP. now she drives a 2010 sienna!! but its jus base model so .. bleh lol kk bye
