Yes Sir, that's my baby!

Jack Payne's first record! Jack Payne and his Hotel Cecil Dance Orchestra. Label does not credit Jack Payne. However, it is definitely him. Recorded August 27th 1925. Played on a 1920s Columbia gramophone. The Tango Two (in foxtrot mode) add to the 20s flavour.

  • From my point of view as an avid phonograph and records collector, I have to say this is one of the best videos of this sort I have ever seen on Youtube! I should donate my collection to you when I retire!!!!

  • Good music! Can we hear (and see) more of that fantastic collection?

  • Hot one! Beautiful Columbia machine too! Thanks for sharing.

  • *****

    Great late acoustical recording.

  • Wonderful! The band personnel is lost except Payne playing piano and someone called Murray Dempsey playing second trumpet. For 1925 and a first recording this band is sensational

  • Dooo Wacka Doooo's!!. Great!.

  • All those 78's! I love the graphics on that illustrated shop sleeve, too.

  • GREAT !!!.

  • I should add 5 stars too, without any hesitation.

  • Hot!. I love the 'Do Wacka Do's' too!. Sounds fantastic on the Gramophone. The rare sound of early Jack Payne, indeed the earliest Jack Payne. A FANTASTIC upload!.
