I chose this story from Sepp Alleberger book on his memoirs because it shows the strategic effectiveness of a sniper in a battle. He would use a Mosin-Nagant and Mp40 in the battle.

SNIPER ON THE EASTERN FRONT THE MEMOIRS OF SEPP ALLERBERGER KNIGHTS CROSS

By Albrecht Wacker

If you could not read some of it.....
The Germans were defending the shore line of a river. During the night Russian storm troopers crossed over the river and took over some of the German trenches. Then Russians began to attack from the river and captured trenches. The Russian storm troopers had been wreaking havoc in the German line. The Germans formed a task force to take out the Russian storm troopers. The task force was having great difficultly taking out the storm troopers.
The Sergeant touched Sepps shoulder: I think the fine hat over there is their leader. If you do him our comrades will get the Ivans.

Sep then turned his attention to the Russian officer with the fur hat and loaded an explosive round to make sure he would get the kill. The sergeant then helped him spot the target. Sepp picked up the officer rhythm and picked out a spot.

Sepp shifted his weapon taking the small piece of trench into reticle. He waited for the decisive moment. Then suddenly the fur hat was visible in the telescopic sight. The shot whipped over the distance of 120m in the fraction of a second and struck. Sepp and the sergeant saw the fur hat puff up like a balloon and then burst bloodily like an overripe melon. Without their leader the Russians became confused and disoriented. Taking advantages of this, riflemen stormed into the occupied trench and in violent close combat manage to kill all the invaders.

  • i haven't read this book , but i thought he was originaly mg gunner, than wounded and used captured mosin 91/30 sniper rifle, once passed thru sniper school - equipped with proper german k98 sniper rifle

  • @petrwarry72 you are right, i totally recommend this book for people who want to learn a bit, on how German sniper fought in the second world war. He is not the only one that started sniping with the mosin. He had a friend that started to snipe with the mosine.

Brutto Stukes (3rd) i think has book written up to (name might be spelled wrong).
