  • @MZEng100 its probly burt out or it needs a service i had the same issue easy fix for me anyway.

  • I have the Same engine , I have done exactly what you did to start it but the starter motor just won't crank, any ideas

  • one month? i left my briggs out for over 3 months over the summer. it starts on first pull. oh and since i ran out of regular gas i am using two-stroke. it still runs great no rebuild or anything. and the plug looks mint.

  • hey man ive got an 11hp briggs of course and its my racing tractor and man ill tell yeah these are one hell of a motor i have mine doing 55mph and its in a wheelhorse. But are you somewhere in the states?

  • Rad! thanks kid. I wondered what the initial carb setting was supposed to be. My starter is SUPER weak though barely makes it around once before it stops while jumped from a car batt.

Now I know what to look forward to. :)

  • what years???

  • well that dont make sense i gotta 1977 11 hp briggs and a 1983 11 hp briggs and i dont know the year of the other one i lost the shroud

  • what were the two year models cause i have an 1986 briggs 11hp same like yours

  • Those old briggs are so damn goodd ive got mysef a 1984 model runs great, its done so much work and im like 30th owner of it and still runs great im paingting it atm

  • Very nice! My Briggs and Stratton (280000 model) is in a world of pain. My dad had the carb rebuilt at the end of last summer. We mowed the yard once and parked in the garage for the winter. The carb was leaking like crazy (the tube breather has rotted). Having little experience, my dad replaced the tube but did not address the issue of why the carb was full of gas in the first place. The result was another half tank of gas on the ground. Any suggestions for how to fix this mess?
