sure they want to drive the price down so they can buy more. They have said before they want to buy a lot more but they don't want to drive up the price so they buy on dips a little at a time.

I have news that Bernanke is going to print $100 trillions to short gold futures!!
so if he prints $100 trillion dollers to short gold futures what would that do to the price I'm new to all this sorry if thats sounds like a stupid question

he is joking... he's not printing 1tn to short gold futures.
but to answer ur question - if he did - then there would be no physical gold left in depositories.

Stella,
As always, thanks so much for the insight. I just have a bit of an objection to what you're saying about the Kerry Trade. I agree with the basics about interest rates but wouldnt you agree that the dollar is so far gone (as far as how much have been printed) that these interest rate games can't save it? It's days as the world reserve currency are numbered and based on how much has been printed, we should see steady price inflation in not too long, regardless of interest rates. Thoughts?

sure i agree... they need to go to 4% interest rates NOW and defend the dollar... unforunately that will collapse the economy... which eventually will collapse the economy either way....
