This is my original composition from 2001, "The Spring, Thaw".
I like to compose the program music and I always depict a picture in my music.
I see the early Spring, with a lot of ice; and rivers start moving when ice is thawing. Wind, rain, water runs from the hills coming to the rivers. There is flood and all fields, roads, and banks cover with water. The nature is waking up after long winter. Maybe somebodys heart starts waking up too and feels the strong passions, movements, and a lot of thoughts are running though the mind.

  • I like all your composition !

  • Thank you!

  • Wow. At last I find a piece worthy of the title 'Original Composition'. So 'program music' is what I've been looking for. I really liked your style and the harmony somewhat provoked memories of Lizst. The technique (arpeggios) really helped draw an image in my mind. The fact that I didn't hear many direct references to other common progressions really helped carve your signature into the piece. Like Sarrasani mentioned, the lack of dynamics was the largest drawback, but otherwise KEEP IT UP!!

  • Thank you for the good words. I love Lizst and his techniques. he played on piano with the sound of whole orchestra.

I just don't understand what is wrong with my dynamics????????

    Ms. Laura

  • You don't really have any to be honest, it would help highlight the melody if you lightened up on the left hand, but I'm not going to tell you what you should do, you're the composer. It was only a suggestion. BTW, do you have sheet music for the piece? I would like to analyze it a bit to help myself with composing.

  • Please, read my comments about this piece. Left hand has to be heavy and fast.

As a revolutionary Etude, nonstopping throughout the composition, because it is Ice Thaw, water running, that is an idea.

That is not Spring by Vivaldi with the birds singing, and dog barking.. My Spring is a power, passions, crazy energy of nature, etc.

  • Alright, I respect that. The dynamics should really relate to the motive and evidently it does in this case, it just sounds a bit dried out because the energy is so constant, but hey if that's the effect you aimed for, good job.

  • Thank you, now I will work on the light and dynamics

  • High class playing, and the piece is fresh and pleasurable. Good the audio, but IMHO too much high and with poor dynamics respect the reality.
