I'm rather a fan of Dessì's...so I don't think this rendition is soooo bad- at least, she is elegant and musically correct

La pronuncia non è certo perfetta ma la voce è bellissima, espressiva, ha un colore spettacolare, risolve il personaggio molto bene. Forse oggi qualche anno è passato e quindi la coloratura è un po' più farraginosa ma sono sicuro che la classe è sempre la stessa!

dovrebbe trattarsi di lingua francese, in realtà non si capisce in che lingua canti.....e se cantava così nel '97 nn oso immaginare come abbia cantato qs ruolo qualche giorno fa a Parma....penosa!!!

Penosa. Mi domando perché un discreto soprano lirico come la Dessì si sia voluta cimentare in un repertorio troppo al di sopra della sua voce e della sua tecnica, buone ma non trascendentali. E pensare che adesso fa anche Norma, cogli esiti che tutti possono immaginare. Ah, che cosa non fanno le agenzie potenti! Giorgio

Because she sings out of pitch here and there, the voice sounds worn, and she can sing better than that.

This role is probably a lot harder than most people realize. The lenght alone makes it difficult, but the fact that this one coloratura show piece is featured well after the much heavier singing of act I-IV, makes it all the more difficult. It isn't like Traviata where the soprano can sort of warm up with the coloratura passages and then move on the the heavier ones. You have to wonder what Verdi was thinking when he threw in this aria?

In your opinion, although I you give no reason why? I think this is an awsome performance, Dessi makes the most of Verdi's music. She is not a coloratura but can handle the requirements well!
