  • @uemciicmeu Blaargh, I mean I HAVE an excerpt from a speech (quoted from John Taylor Gatto's Underground History of American Education). This, claims Gatto, shows that government is complicit in using the school systems to make "good" employees and mindless consumers for big business. Having taught for thirty years, I can see it....

  • When was this, CV? I also an excerpt from a speech he gave in 1909 to the New York state teachers' association, where he details that only a few students should have the luxury of a liberal arts education, whereas the majority should be taught to do manual monotonous tasks (am paraphrasing, since I don't have the quote in front of me). Good show, CV!
