The driver of 7R82 loaded grain train departs Mt Lofty with "ANR" locomotives 2201,2202,2203,2204.
The bark of the 4 very noisy non-turbo EMD's sounds great as the driver works through the throttle notches to get the train moving down the hill towards Belair.
October 2001.

  • No shortage of this and similar 1st and 2nd generation locomotives here in Oz.

They will be around for many years yet.

This train was put in the passing siding to allow a Perth bound RoadRailer to run past and was departing on line clearance.

  • wow where can i get a job with these people, i'd like to be responsible for such a noise >.>

  • Super!!!!

The sound did me think about a train I filmed 12 years ago in Belgium with 4 class 55 locos, wich have the same engine and drive train, but sadly they are gone there so Australia is one of the few places in the world where such great sounding first generation EMD units still do their job on premier roads, and the G&W is one of the best in terms of pure diesel violence!
