Eating Jellyfish

We went to D.C.'s Chinatown and decided to eat at a restaurant in the basement of a building(not such a good idea). On the menu was Cold Shredded Jellyfish. So what's the obvious thing to do? Order some so that's what we did. We passed it around, all ate a small piece. Jeremiah, being the brave one, decided to eat a huge mouth full.

what on earth does the amount of time a thing has spent on earth have to do with whether you would eat it? millions of people eat seaweed every day - it's great and great for you. regardless, the point of eating things usually straightforward: you're hungry and it either tastes good and/or is good for you. sometimes the tasting good is acquired. think of all the delicacies we now cherish that were probably first eaten out of hunger: lobster, oysters, caviar, et cetera.

Jellyfish isn't that bad. Maybe the texture got to him... it's a bit like chewing on a slimey rubber band. But taste wise it's actually quite good. It has the after taste of an oyster.
