26 years old and lives in Austria now. Russia.
On 21st of February, 2000,about 100 meters away from his house, W.
found an ordinary bag lying on the street and just took it in the hand and opened to see what it was.
But W.never imagined that it would change his whole
life. It just exploded!
Wasyly had only hope that such kind of operation exist and his sisters began to
search information
about this in news papers, internet, libraries etc.
She and his mothers - they sought hand transplantation at 6 years!

On May 28th, 2006 in the city of Innsbruck Austria he
was operated. During
Operation 2 donor hands were transplanted to him...

In two years,he can write , dress oneself and make another work...

The operation is carried out in the following order: bone fixation, tendon repair, artery repair, nerve repair, then vein repair. The operation typically lasts 8 to 12 hours. By comparison, a typical heart transplant operation lasts 6 to 8 hours.

The recipient of a hand transplant needs to take immunosuppressive drugs, as the body's natural immune system will try to reject, or destroy, the hand. These drugs cause the recipient to have a weak immune system and suffer severely even from minor infections.
