  • Thanks so much to dimmukomun for uploading the first 13 minutes of this biopic masterpiece that was directed by the late and legendary Gordon Parks. To see this film in its full length again would be such a wonderful and special treat. It would really be exposed to a whole new generation of young people to appreciate and enjoy listening to classic blues and folk music of the early 20th century. A dvd and blu-ray release would be very much welcomed. Leadbelly is truly a cinema treasure

  • I was blown away to be able to see Leadbelly again after more than 30 yrs especially to be able to see my dad (deceased for 20yrs) in action playing the fiddle in the party scene. Sometimes on A&E they would show it during black history month but, it's rare. Cudo's for putting this for all to see! I luv it! I watch my dad anytime now! great for grand and great-grand kids can see that have never seen dad other than still photos and to show them history of african americans! Thank U!!!

  • Oh wow this film is truly a prime example of classic african american cinema. Its truly sad that this film is very, very hard to find and is not shown on television anymore. I haven't seen the entire film in over 15 years. I remember it being shown on Showtime at that time. Its such a beautiful, groundbreaking and remarkable film about the life of blues legend Huddie Ledbetter. There are heart felt and outstanding performances throughout the movie. Paramount really should release it on dvd.
