There are methods out there that could have helped the family and Benjy. Such as those of Cesar Millan, Rande Levine and Jason Miller. Victoria knew about the dog's vet checks before the third attack, so why did she say the dog must have a neurological problem? And why was there no autopsy? She FAILED both the dog and the family miserably. Yes, I do think the dog could have been re-homed with the help of a competent behaviourist.

  • People make animals like this, especially dogs aren't born violent and aggressive. Jesus..People are brutally murdered and tortured everyday by PEOPLE and they only get a jail sentance. Why should dogs lose their lives?. In dogstrust and other rescue centres you can SPONSOR dogs, these are dogs that cannot be rehomed for many reasons but their not put down. They live today in them. Some dogs can't be rehomed or put with children, maybe this was one. I think this dog's death was uncalled for.

  • lol....with all that she preaches about shock collars...and she says to kill the dog without a second thought? yep VERY positive trainer, you truly are concerned for the dogs well being, good job Victoria -sarcasm-

  • Uh.. Everything is the stupid family's fault.

Sometimes things get to a point where they can't be fixed. By Anybody.

    You are just chauvenistic.

  • Like Victoria said, IT WAS THE OWNERS' DECISION. Obviously they felt it was a good decision. I love both of my dogs, but if one would ever bite my son, (not just a puppy play bite, but an actual bite) it would be put down also. I wouldn't take the chance of it happening again, or it happening to another family.

  • @alanasmummy ''once a dog bites it will do it again'' .....not if its told not to ! so if your kid punches another kid, does that mean it will punch ppl for the rest of its life? not if humans are willing to take the proper measure and help

A human could step on a cocker and hurt it, you cant do that to a pitbull or rott, so yes its less dangerous becuz its a lot smaller

if your a dog lover then i would urge u to use more common sense :)

the world lacks common sense, trust me

  • @Evalynn3f it was not 100% confirmed that it had cocker rage...you here VS say : it sounds like it has some sort of neurological problem...wtf thats not clear. shes just trying cover up the mess she has to clean.

  • @alanasmummy: First, I would never put say a pit bull or a rotweiler was evil. They are not. Second, I would be deeply upset if my child was attacked. But the vulnerable mother here trusted the unqualified Stillwell. The dog should have been boarded til the best dog rehabilitator available--not a trainer--was found. After rehabilitation, the dog would be rehomed. Trusting a trainer or vet in this situation is like letting the family doctor do a surgeon's work. (Vets are not behaviorists.)

  • For all those of you who think it was cruel, how would you feel if it was your child it attacked? I know if a dog did this to mine then i would want it PTS so it could never happen again. Once a dog bites it will do it again. If it was a rottweiler or a pit bull would you all be saying aww poor dog shes evil? Just cos its a cute cocker doesnt mean its any less dangerous. I am a complete dog lover but sometimes the best thing for dog and family is for it to be PTS

  • Type "cocker rage" into a search engine. Poor breeding has made this dog one of the most dangerous around because of it's unpredictable aggression due to neurological problems. I took this story a lot more seriously 'til I found out it was about a cocker spaniel.

  • @TheAArmstrong by create balance I mean try to create a scenario where no one gets hurt, use the environment to your advantage. you dont necessarily need cesar millan lol. you can make happen yourself if you're not afraid and confident. thing is I dont know if that dogs was truly ''VICIOUS'' I didnt watch the episode...although he seemed like a pretty normal dog from this vid. maybe the kid provoked the dog to attack.duno type of info VS gave to da family. wat if it escaped lol.

  • @marcostott create balance?? shut up you daft cunt your not the dog whisperer, i would stay calm...wot even if it was biting you and going ballistic?? and it wasnt just a biter it mauled the girl, yes it is a shame the dog is put down but in the uk we dont have cesar millan (and yes i do kno he has rehabilitated dangerous dogs) I love dogs but i value the safety of children above a dog and i think the risk to rehome even with adults is unneccesary risk. wot if it escaped??

  • @TheAArmstrong Um no, most likely to family with adults and/or teens. Dogs can learn to sumbit to humans, only if the people are willing to learn and do the work. It's ignorant people like you that leave no hope for the animal because you think it can never change. If you know cesar millan, youd know that he never euthanized a dog, why? because he has HOPE for every dog. its the ppl with credentials that find excuses to euthanize dogs.
