FFXII Speed Run Part 7

Judge Bergan: 1 min 58 secs
Bomb King: 2 min 15 secs
Obtaining the Zodiac Spear: around 9 mins -- not exactly the time I was aiming for.

After Judge Bergan, I purchased 3 Viking Coats for the fight with Famfrit in Pharos later. I hopped on the leisure airship from Rabanastre to Nalbina. On the airship, I purchased 2 gyashi greens for the two chocobo rides, one to Salikawood and one to Tchita Uplands. I purchased Dispel, Foe: Highest Max HP and Lowest HP gambits, and rode a chocobo to Mosphoran Highwaste. I purchased one Icebrand there. In Salikawood, I talked to the first 4 moogles, saved at the orange save crystal, and went back to talk to the rest of the moogles. I moved on to Phon Coast and purchased the Murasame (it has the water element that Bomb King is weak against) and equipped it on Basch.

It took a total of 13 minutes to kill Bomb King and grab the Zodiac Spear before saving in Tchita Uplands again. I wish I could have reduced this time by a couple minutes.

I was wondering why you didn't get the Zodiac Spear as soon as possible (after Jahara, IIRC). I just know that it was very helpful against Tiamat when I was attempting a speedrun.

Well the time it took to beat Bomb King at that point was much longer than doing it after Stillshrine. I had to take into account the time added to the run. Either (a) take 9 or more minutes to defeat Bomb King with weaker characters and also add the time going through dialogue when getting past guards on chocobo (b) when I reach Bomb King I would be a little stronger to defeat it in 4 minutes or so.

But how long it took to defeat Bomb King and how did you do so with the characters at that point?

On that run, I was trying to see how well it would work to kill everything with quickenings instead of leveling so much. I chained Dustia until I got to level 21, got the Zodiac Spear just after Jahara, then spent about 26 minutes chaining Jellies until Basch had enough LP to use the spear. I got just past the Mandragoras with a time of 5:02:38, but then I either got stuck or gave up after that.

Wow 5:02:38 is a really good time. It's too bad that the enemies aren't easy with just quickenings after that due to the amount of HP and defense they have. The end bosses are even worse. I improved my speedrun some time ago by almost 30 minutes. I just need to figure out if there's a way to reduce it by 20 minutes more. That's where it gets really tough.

I've encountered something that's never happened be4. After I defeat Judge Bergan, I flew to Nalbina, then rode birdy to Morphian Highway. From there I rode the chocobo all the way to the Moss Boss. And guess what?

The Search for the 9 moggles is not intiated! WHAT?! How could this happen?

No clue. did you check Mt Bur Omisace again? also did you get the cutscene with Balthier and Ashe discussing how to get to Phon Coast after killing Judge Bergan in the temple area?

wow 3:59 is exactly where im at but my lvl is higher bcus i took my time and i didnt really knoe where to go so i took most of my time killing every monsters i c as i go by

Hmm, when I look back at my notes, it looks like it took me about 10 minutes to kill Bomb King, and I killed it with 5 rounds of quickenings (I think I had only level 1 quickenings, but I can't remember for sure because it was about a year ago).
