This tune was recorded in open E tuning. The high parts are done by playing the harmonic at the 12th fret. Buddy used a Gibson J 45. The tuning for this open chord is: E B F# E B E. Any questions? Joe

Sounds like he's playing this in F with a capo on the 5th fret: C shape with the pinky on the 8th fret, 1st string. It sounds best removing the pinky for a fraction of a second in each bar. Anyone who plays the guitar and listens to this closely will know what I mean. If this is correct it's a somewhat unusual chord position to be playing this song. I think Bo Diddley (who wrote it) plays his studio version in A though I don't know if he played it in normal tuning.
