Real time display of App Store sales on 20 screens from WWDC 2009. This "hyperwall" was located on the 2nd floor lobby of Moscone West and was filmed shortly before the Monday morning keynote.

Apple's description of the display:

"Over 3,000 apps -- and growing -- are downloaded every minute from the App Store. This is a live feed showing the activity of 20,000 popular apps currently on the store. Every time a customer downloads an app, it's icon lights up (5-min delay).

This hyperwall was built using the latest in Apple technology. It's powered by 20 Mac Pro towers running Mac OS X Snow Leopard. It was programmed in Quartz Composer using new OpenCL APIs. And it's shown on 20 synchronized 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Displays."

  • Ok I get my apps from installous too, but I understand why people don't. It's respect for the hard work to the people who made it and they feel the DEV, deserves the money.

  • Lol, well, it's nice to support people's hard work. Besides, the actual app store is quite a bit better than the jail broken one.

  • I'd love to go to WWDC or any of the Apple conferences.

  • nvm on my last comment i just realized its color is kind of a rainbow gradient

  • lotta red based icons lol

  • thats insane - and to think thats only a small fraction of the app store. if they put up everything + apple tv sales and itunes sales...christ now that would be something. they would prob have to build a new apple factory to produce the apple computers to do that! haha - ahh sweet - cheers for the video

  • Wow, lot of apps, they r carzy! Woot!

  • Well, I'm Jewish, so stereotypically I won this argument. I really am, that cheap.

  • Ok, in my opinion being an ipod application developer is stupid. I mean yea, I really appreciate the apps that I now have free, but your company has to be kind of stupid to devote their whole product line in ipod applications. This is because of the availability of cracked apps. I really don't care if I just rip of one developer, I mean that isn't a huge company. But trust me I really do feel bad when I rip off companies like Chillingo and NgMocco, because all of their products are apps.

  • Great. And what about all the developers who did their work for nothing then?

  • apple ftw

  • Exactly, that's why I actually pay for my apps.. Like come on guys, most of them are only 99 cents.. how cheap are you?
