  • The French justice system is part of the government, Airbus is part of the government.

    That tells you everything!

  • Pulling that 'Alpha Max' stunt with passengers on board was ill advised. But throwing the pilot under the bus was also a total dick move.

  • <--------builds time machine and goes back to 1988 to the scene of the crash and dances around burnt out airbus screaming 'unmanned plane unmanned plane'

    uav@Pvjinflight

  • @StPetesYTSMemptyA320 Nope, it was very manned.

  • garbage loads like this need to be dropped. everyone knows this was an unmanned plane being flown by a computer

  • @Pvjinflight keep in mind the real story here is that this was an unmanned plane

  • thank god it was an airbus not a boeing

  • Turbofans!Not turbojets!

  • @asingleverse Yup

  • It's bit ironic that when they discuss the possibility of the plane entering landing mode at 34:36, the page shown in the book actually describes "Direct law" which is full manual control without any protection from the computer. Anyway, I don't think that "landing mode" will stay when TOGA was commanded. That would mean any Airbus attempting go around would crash flat on the runway...

  • @VERGIS92 Yeah it does.

  • @Pvjinflight automation does work when you handle it right, remember the Hudson river landing, it was an Airbus plane landing at minimum possible ditching speed, and about 20 knots slower than pilots were trained for, the Airbus automation kicked in and made sure the plane did not stall! 20knots less helps remove a lot of kinetic energy that may break the plane upon impact
