@mechamind90 This was preinstalled with vista, but I eventually installed windows 7, right now my hard disk is formatted, but I can't promise it will stop crashing. and yeah I do have a virus scanner but I highly doubt it is a virus.

You do have a virus scanner, I hope.
I'm also curious if the computer was brand new with Windows 7, or if it was installed on a computer with an older operating system beforehand. Mine was brand new with Windows 7 and it works fine. As for the computer where I record videos, it's got Windows XP. I'd probably try a different OS.
I also wish I could be able to use a Linux at some point.
