Facing the San Francisco 49ers in the late 80's with Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and John Taylor wasn't an easy thing to do, espeically when you were the New Orleans Saints trying to make the playoffs and having to play them TWICE a year. That being said the 49ers didn't need any help from the refs like they got October 8, 1989, Back in 1989, instant reply was still having the kinks worked out and coaches could not challenge a call. See how the refs blow these two calls as the Saints fall 24-20.. Music is "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2.

  • First one, yes. Second one your explanation is two feet? he had two feet.... it doesn't have to be two feet in the endzone....

  • @thomasrahs The Saints got some cheap ass calls in the 09 NFC title game vs the Vikings. Vikings turned it over 4 times and were getting fucked by the refs = 3 point win in OT for the Saints? LOL who's the real cheaters?

  • The second TD (John Taylor) was reviewed and upheld. I think the refs who spent time reviewing the play in the replay booth are just a bit more qualified to judge than a bunch of biased Saints fans who don't understand what the rules were.

The first play (Rice) was a missed call, but had the refs seen it and made the call, the story of the game would've been Rice losing it with the boneheaded mistake of the year, not the Saints winning it. Pretty sad you'd have to count on that to win.

  • @allprog Who gives a shit about "now a days?" The rules these days are atrocious. "Complete the process of the catch" is a disgrace to football. If you catch the ball and cross the goal line, it should be a touchdown. The rule back then was the right one.

  • yeah. Im a big Saints fan myself. but its time to get over it. See you in the playoffs niners(:

  • fuck the niners cheaten ass!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah Im a Niners fan and those were pretty bad,, those would have never held up now a days

  • Wow.....and I thought Seahawk fans griping about SBXL was bad...

    Time. To. Let. It. Go.

Besides, your Saints got over in the 2009 NFC Title Game when the refs helped YOU out with calls just as bad as this. Consider yourself even.

  • @Lanceaferd Sorry, you're wrong. The Saints would've gotten the ball on the 20. It's a touchback because the ball was fumbled and went to back of the endzone. Read the NFL rule book next time.

  • @Lanceaferd I obviously need a life? You make shit up, not anywhere rooted ion fact and I need a life?

    Hillarious.

As to you reiterating the same stupidity again, does not make it any more rooted in fact.

You're confusing the rules on incomplete passes with fumbles dipshit.

    Sorry.
