The winner of the Palmares Award at the 2005 Festival de Málaga,Tapas is a dramatic comedy that intertwines five stories that take place in a typical Barcelona neighborhood, L'Hospitalet de Llorbregat. The stories are five worlds linked by the inhabitants daily interactions in the bar, the shops and the market where they share their concerns, fears and hopes. The hope and sadness felt by Raquel, a beautiful middle aged woman who experiences love over the internet; the fear of loneliness felt by Mariano and Conchi, two retired people; the uncertain future of Cesar and Opo, two young supermarket clerks who are organizing their holiday; and Lolo who discovers that there is another world beyond his tapas bar, thanks to his relationship with Mao, his new Chinese cook, an expert in making delicious tapas. All this takes us through a picturesque neighborhood with a script full of tenderness, laughter, and the materials of everyday life... including great Catalonian food.
