I love these transitional scenes in Ozu's films. My mom was Japanese, and married my dad (American) around the time of these movies. These shots are like a picture view of what might have been her daily routine. I often wondered if she felt she made the right choice by leaving Japan. Of course if she hadn't, I wouldn't be here...

Ozu was a true revolutionary in film-making. But let's not forget his cinematographers and Directors of Photography who contributed just as much in the display of these fine sequences.
