Ed Parker's American Kenpo Self Defense Techniqes instructed by Casa De Kenpo which includes Professors Cliff Seminerio and Juan Serrano. These videos are available as a quick reference/resource for students, especially those interested in learning them by the book. This is our attempt at an honest display of Ed Parker's American Kenpo.

  • @LynnVicia I'm a Kodokan Judo BB as well as Kenpo,TKD,Urban Hapkido 5th dans,Urban Capoeira Coach, plus a dan in Shaolin Kempo Karate and I'm a boxing,Muay Thai, and grappling coach. What you see is called "the Ideal Phase" and it lacks functionality. Properly and functionally trained? A Kenpoist's heel palm claw to the eyes (think palm strike+Tiger Claw rake) crushes thoughts of bracing and trapping but if he does? Kenpo's concepts of inserting, suffixing, rearranging, etc. allows instant adjustment.

  • One of the things that always gets me about 'moves'; the 'opponents' always move with them. I studied Kodokan Judo, Hun Gar, and a few informal disciplines. In Judo, we learned many throws and how to flow from one attempt to the next as our opponent adjusted. In this example, most opponents would brace and trap, making the arm bars nearly impossible. Can anyone describe the dynamic for reactive opponents in this instance? Just curious, thanks!

  • This is a pretty rare situation but I saw two big guys grab a little guy by the shoulders in front of a group of teenage girls. They growled and threatened and pushed the kid away from them.I caught up to the kid on the other side of the skating rink with his nerd buddies, gave him my card.He and his sister joined. Now he could do all kinds of damage to those big guys but he's grown enough as a person to not want to or place himself in a position like that anymore. To me? That's real martial arts.
