Rebecca, I am German, too. So you were raised in the US?
Did you study the American language and especially how the pronounciation is made up?
ahai1968 1 month ago
@ahai1968 Actually, I'm a 5th generation American-born German. My relatives came from Schlesig-Holstein in 1850 on the ship called the Ottilie out of Bremen and settled in Nebraska, which has a large German-American population. I moved to California over 20 years ago, but that's my heritage. For political reasons, most German-Americans gave up their language and didn't pass it on to their children, so while I have studied some German in college, I don't speak it well.

rebecca, do you have swedish roots?

@monzzydawg No, I'm a 100% ABG (American Born German) ... just have a Swedish last name because my husband's mother remarried a man with a Swedish name ... he's German too.
