SAVING DAVID POWELL is a riveting and heartbreaking film. David Powell is alive right now this minute, a living breathing human being with a heart and a mind and all kinds of reasons to live. He's already served 32 years and during this time he has done good things, compassionate things. He has served a life sentence. Now on top of this life sentence the State of Texas intends to carry out a death sentence too.
- Judith Tingley, Jan 31, 2010

News Update:
In October 2009, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals refused to hear a petition filed by Davids legal team, containing new evidence that would have affected the outcome of his sentencing. Even though the Travis County District Attorney could have set an execution date at that time, she has not yet done so. If she does, David will be put to death by the State of Texas within 90 days.

There are no more appeals available to David, and nothing left, legally, to stop his execution.

  • Texas executes convicted cop killer 32 years on

    (AFP) – Jun 15, 2010

WASHINGTON — The state of Texas on Tuesday executed David Powell, 59, for the murder of a police officer 32 years ago, after having lost a series of lengthy appeals and requests for clemency.

  • @bgurley001 My name is also called David Powell. I'm watching this to see who shares the same name. I was shocked to learn the truthe what he has done. I'm a saint compared to him. I learnt there was another David Powell who was a copper with a family in the states who was murdered. How shocking!!

  • @bgurley001 you can look at the dude on the other david powell video. i don't get offended by people who make fun of a youtube user name lol. if anything i laugh when people do because it shows the truth that 90% of people on youtube are morons. now you might wonder why it may have taken me 2 hours to reply? well i got a life and name calling me is nothing i am going to really argue about, so.... if anything i might still make statements of yours if i see them without even responding back.

  • @ultradumbass Still bigger and better than any place that would allow you to live.

  • continuation... Rather than face consequences for being a drug user and dealer he shot an officer. Then rather than face the consequences of his sentence he continued to file appeals. Even after he was sentenced to death a 3rd time he continued. Just because he reformed in prison doesn't make him a good person. What if he hadn't been caught for the murder and put in jail where he had no option but to get clean? He would've continued to doing drugs and continued killing people.

  • @ultradumbass your name says it all. You are an ultra dumbass. Why is it that someone on death row should have the right to redeem themselves? He didn't give the officer an opportunity to fulfill his life. David Lee Powell is the scum of the earth. Not once, not twice, but multiple times he has refused to face the consequences of his actions. To me that shows no reform. The first time was when he shot Officer Ablenado.

  • @bgurley001 lol you're fucking dumb. "i am literate about david powell because i have read articles" or something along that line. not worth memorising your quotes. i could just as easily make an article about you and write whatever i want. and then i could even write a book to establish everything as fact.

  • @bgurley001 lol the great state of texas? lol. more like the fat state of texas with super size fries....

  • @sfgiants20 the people on death row and life sentences should be able to redeem themselves. and i don't care about the officer's family. i only care for the dead officer and david powell since they are both the only two that died. both could have had productive lives, now both are dead. why may that be? society as a whole. people kill when they feel society has abandoned them. and i am smart enough to see through that myself. if anything, society is guilty for both of their murders.

  • you know david powell, if he had lived could have probably been very productive. of course the ablenado's are obviously dumb scum. i could see being mad at the time, but 32 years later? and they still refused to aknowledge all the good he did in prison? they really rather see him die and not even help society, then possibly make him productive and perhaps even redeem the dead person? lol his family is worst than david since they are hypocrites that live to see another day.
