Important to mention that you shouldn't tie stopper knots in any sheets or halyards as if you need to let `them fly in an emergency they won't run free!!
I recall being on a boat mid race when we nearly gybed under spinnaker. One of the novice crew had tied stoppers in the spinnaker sheets and when I let fly to spill the air, and stop the boat going over, they flew out to the end of the rope then held the spinnaker, still full of air, about fifty feet away from the boat.
That was exciting!!
