Totally agree - plus upon arrival you do not have to share the same breathing space as chavs and Notherners going to grotty all inclusive bargain hotels in the South!

Fog was not the main issue in the accident in 1977. There were planes occupying the taxiway along the ray, so one of the jumbos had to backtrack after landing... Planes were parked at the taxiway, due to lake os space for parking. All planes from Gran Canary were diverted to Tenerife due to bomb threats from canarian separatists. Reason for the lack of parking space here. So.. Blame the separatits!

Thats doesn´t mean a thing. The problem is the airport sits on the north part of the island, at higher altitude, and gets the clouds from the dominant atlantic current from north-northest. There are airports who sit on a mountains and rarely have fog.

They ruled that as a combination of ATC, In a hurry KLM pilot, and the crew of the PAN AM for not making the correct turn off, but mostly it was the KLM pilot who was impatient, and the weather conditions, b/c not find the correct taxiway is a human error, what the KLM captain did was just pure stupidity.
