Industrial Rail Atlantic by Atlas with Marx cars in action

This is a reletively new release by Atlas Industrial Rail. It is rather smallish, but for those of us who have older 3/16 scale sized cars I wanted to try one. Relatively inexpensive at a little over $100.00 it is nicely done, runs well, smokes and has a digital steam whistle. I made this run to get an idea of it's pulling performance. The old style cars have high drag truck designs and being as it started with half the cars on a curve, the wheel slip you see was not a surprise. Once movong, it handles the load somewhat easy. The sound and smoke are super in this price range. Lower priced Lionel loco's have horid whistles. Did I like it???? Well I just ordered another in AT&SF roadname. The look is perfect for this size car and performance is top notch. Only time will tell how reliable they are. Enjoy.

Nice layout, must be a Xmas setup. The smoke unit on your little locomotive puts my $1200 Hiawatha to shame!

I put this display together for a TTOS Holiday open house tour and will leave it up for a while. Later in the year it will get redone with tin litho buildings etc.
