Chi sao for us is just an exercice to practice technique, position, relaxation, stability, to feel what the partner is going to do in order to deviate his move, keeping contact and protection are favoured to punching. We dont grab or pull and favour relaxion to do the technique. If you do chi sao with a 110 kg guy and you are only 60 kg and he just grabs your two arms or pushes you using power, you have no chance to practice your technique because he will always be more powerful than you are. So the 110 kg guy should practice like a 50 kg guy. Helping each other to progress is the right and best way to learn and not to injure yourself and your partner.Chi Sao is very far away from a real fight. But the right practice will help you to find to right technique without thinking and without using power to defeat your opponant. Is that an ideal or perfection? I truly think thats what we should try to tend towards even if its an inaccessible dream.
