fredi washington was a phenomenal actress. she was offered stardom- the level of Garbo, if she would deny her race and become a white actress. Fredi refused to deny her race for wealth & stardom. she chose instead to fight for the civil rights of black people.she started the Negro Actors Guild 1937. the Guild would lobby against stereotype casting by Hollywood of black actors & against discrimination.

this world suffered a great loss- it was never to realize the talent of Fredi washington.

I have family that resemble Fredi Washington. Some will admit to being black and are very proud of it. Some will say they are Native American or White. I admit there is NA and white. But there is black for sure. The idea of saying your black is like a gross thing to them. Crazy.

Because when you go through the pain of giving birth,nursing,and doing all the things a mother does and your daughter just ignores you because of your race. It hurts you love your children and its a strong love. You want that bond. Why the daughter denied her mother is beyond me, passing for white I can understand thats her choice but when my mom walked in I wouldn't have said those things to her.
