Derren Brown Assassin... For Real?

So is it really possible to use hypnosis to create and assassin? Or is it all 'smoke 'n' mirrors? What does that say about hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

PLEASE NOTE:

With this video, I want to be clear that I am NOT saying that 'what you see is what you get' with Derren's show. When I say that it is possible to 'hypnotically' influence someone to perform an assassination, I don't necessarily mean 'put them into trance and give them a post-hypnotic suggestion'! As most people who have followed my blog ( http://www.hypnosiswithouttrance.com/blog/ ) will know, I view hypnosis as something subtler than that which is presented by most 'old school' hypnotists and their models of hypnosis.

Derren achieved what he achieved within a particular context, much of what is presented is about PRESENTATION rather than getting results. If the CIA ever experimented with classic 'induction based' hypnosis to 'programme' assassins, I am absolutely sure they would have dropped it in favour of more effective methods that are better suited to their needs and contexts.

Remember, Derren is not just doing hypnosis, he is also presenting it... selling the hypnosis itself!

Since you have seen Derren Browns' "Assassin" episode you are only passing on what you've already seen as to whether hypnotising someone to kill someone else. I've seen this episode and I don't really think that you confirming it can be done I could see myself that it can and was done. You also repeat yourself a bit. You say you don't want to give away any spoilers about the show and then continue to do just that! Your'e using Derrens' show to promote your own website. Derren Brown is "The Man"!

@chameleon1968abel Derren IS the man. Superb indeed! I am pleased you can see for yourself that it can be done, although this is not true for everybody. Many people were and still are questioning it. If you have just watched the video here on You Tube rather than viewing the post on the Hypnosis Without Trance blog, you will have missed a lot of peripheral detail and discussion.

I think Derren included the pin number trick so as to display how it is capable to hypnotise someone to kill and then to make them forget they did it! (part 2) If the water truly felt warm he should have been able to just get in and lay down right away, but what we see is that he is easing into the bath over a full minute of on screen time with multiple camera cuts. I think Chris was a plant in the show and they were able to use him in this "never before tested experiment" of the ice bath because he could get in and not show signs of pain due to his pre-exposure to ice baths.

the guy they used, Chris is Sports Marketing Executive and even before they relieved that i had my suspicions that he was either a serious cross country runner or a soccer player at one point. Just from his body type and the way he approached the ice bath test. Most serious athletes but especially cross country runners and soccer players are accustomed to ice baths. The way he got in and out of the tub looked like this was not a new experience for him... (part 1)

the guy in the episode, Chris, seemed very blank inside. and that is what Darren Brown liked about him. this isn't something that would work on just anyone. but dont think you couldn't be manipulated to do things you wouldn't normally do. we're being hypnotized all the time and that could b the pre-hypnosis required to get us prepared for the main hypnosis that will make us all do very strange things. war & all the violence in entertainment could be prepping us to kill each other when triggered.

If Derren Brown can make this happen with the four elements you say you need then I would strongly believe it is highly likely Governments will have at least tested this with/on soldiers. Black Ops budget style. It's considered likely the American Military were working on an operation in the early sixties involving doing this... whether they succeeded or not (and whether people believe it or not)
