  • The piece was arranged by a Black composer, "It Is Well" the familiar hymn was composed by two 19th-century evangelical White Christians

  • Horatio Stafford, according to Bill Gaither, was the composer of this piece.

I don't know the color of his skin, but the content of his heart, under very trying circumstances, is what really matters.

  • Philip Paul Bliss was a black man?

  • black or white, this is beautiful music, sung very well.

  • @realisticchic17 Negative. Not rude. I believe Dr. King talked about judging a person based on the content of their character, not the color of their skin. Judge the composition by its content, not because he was black.

  • @korgboy98 yu rude!

  • Also because black composers don't get a lotta recognition as white composers.I know this 4 a fact because I go to NSU and I ain't neva heard of Dr. Carl Haywood b4 he came to my high school.

  • one would celebrate classical or baroque composers.

there is simply a history behind "black composers." at first their music was not accepted and they have come a long way from those times. plus if you listen, some black composers have a distinct style that is different from other composers.

  • why salute "Black" Composers? what difference does it make if he's black???
