If we don't understand history, we are destined to repeat it a statement by Roger M. Buergel, artistic director of Documenta 2007 in Kassel. This statement is the starting point of the photo project Abschied by conceptual photographer Caroline Grijsen from The Netherlands.
In her photo installation Abschied (Farewell) Caroline focuses on the legacy of her grandmother. She makes a reconstruction of family connections, events and the gaps within this personal history.
Carolines grandmother came from Vienna to the Netherlands after WWI, at the age of eleven. Due to varying circumstances she did not see her mother, who lived in Vienna, for years. The first and last time she saw her mother was in 1951, on her first holiday to Austria.
By studying and questioning her legacy Caroline made a visual interpretation of these events, in order to better understand certain choices that were made.
@shivayavoda i used transparent material & just mounted it on the mirror well tight so the beamed photo's are very visible. You need a dark space though. Where do you exhibit? And what? of course :)

@Carolinepino thanks for the reply! we're planning on doing projection on a mirror as well, but no sure about what material to use: I believe the mirror was half transparent? Do you maybe know what kinda materials are suitable for this purpose? I love in this setup the way you placed the projector and it casts long projections on the ground as well.
