Greyhounds Love Snow!

Our Personal Home Video: Zeke the Woof-Woof (a.k.a. Zekey-Boy) becomes a crazy-dog when it snows. After a winter blizzard, a ton of shoveling... a snowman and a squeaky toy romp, this greyhound has thoroughly enjoyed his first full winter season as a retired racer.

When we adopted Trailways, my Mom carefully measured him and sewed him a lovely coat to wear in winter. I think he wore it once. Unlike a lot of greys, Trai loved cold weather and snow! During the summer he'd lay indoors in the path of the air conditioner.

Zeke loves A/C too. In fact, he's figured out the noise of the air conditioner means cool air will flow. So if you turn it off, within mere seconds he's panting! And when you turn it back on, he's cool... as a cucumber! ;D

Just saw that the audio was disabled! Can you believe it?

"Let It Snow," "My Favorite Things" and "Winter Wonderland" with us talking, laughing, Zeke play-growling and barking, car and truck noise from the street....

Let's just say I'm miffed that a home-video on YouTube gets its audio canned while tons of direct copyright infringements are all playing just fine! The audio isn't even usable for music...

Well... I guess you'll have to use your imaginations. Sorry. =(

Zeke gets crazy at the beach too. Swims out to me, then turns around and gets the "wicked zoomies."

He moves our bags and shoes to set up a track. Then makes figures around them.

Then digs himself a big ditch in the shade. And conks out looking like a dead dog.

People who missed the zooming actually ask if he's all right! :) Don't you just love greyhounds?!

I'll have to get a video of that when summer is back.

What a LUCKY dog! Poor Chubby Hubby only got one decent snowfall this winter...he wants me to move to Alaska...

The first winter blizzard weeks after adopting him, I dragged Zeke to walk. His website his the video blog of his coat, boots, etc! Anyway, he thought I was crazy to make him walk. But at the tennis courts, I enclosed us and took the leash off. Then ran around, jumping and sliding like a nut (myself) and Zeke started playing in the snow. Sliding in the snow is very fun to Zeke! Now he's nuts for snow... so long he gets to go inside when he's had enough. Thanks for the comment! :)

What a lot of folks don't know is that the majority of greyhiounds are raised in areas that have snowy winters... Kansas, Northwest Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa... so, while most of them race in warm weather climes, it's not completely foreign to them. My 10-ryear old hadn't seen snow since she was a 1.5 year old puppy and when we moved to Washington and she got her first taste of it since puppyhood, she LOVED it! :)
