Good call on the rescue and release at the discovery location;-) Moodlist is right--taking a box turtle away from its home and releasing it in an unknown area can be a death sentence. The only time it is ok to keep a box turtle is when it has lost it's habitat to development or its origin is unknown but then you must build a large outdoor enclosure, feed the turtle a complex diet and then there's the vet bills and the fact that keeping one is a lifelong commitment...it's like having a child!
