Dirk Bogarde plays Maximilian Theo Aldorfer, a former Nazi SS officer, and Charlotte Rampling plays Lucia Atherton, a concentration camp survivor who had an ambiguous relationship with Aldorfer. Flashbacks show Max tormenting Lucia, but also acting as her protector. In an iconic scene, Lucia sings a Marlene Dietrich song to the concentration camp guards while wearing pieces of an SS uniform, and Max "rewards" her with the severed head of a male inmate who had been bullying the other inmates. (A reference to Salome.) No copyright infringement intented.

Vot are ve to make of zis? I do not know! Romping vit Rampling?...ha!..vot good fun zat vud be!

  • @river2walk I am happy you like it. I believe that all people regardless of sexual orientation can exhibit either masculine or feminine traits and behaviours. I think this movie is about instincts and human nature which unfortunately rarely go hand in hand with kindness and respect towards other people.

  • I can't believe how beautiful this is...

  • Excellent clip for an excellent film. I saw this film last week in Paris (I can't remember how many times I've seen it!) and Liliana Cavani was there!!! Great moment!

  • @Lucia0672 Liliana in a recent interview, said a number of things about how she approached Dirk. She was not sure that he accepted the part, but when he read the screenplay he was enthusiast. Opening schene in Vienna was filmed (in early morning) without pemission of authorities. At a certain point, there was not enough money to continue the film, but an american producer who saw the filmed material financed it. Finally, when the film was presented in Paris, Cavani was surprised of the success

  • dirk & charlotte AS marlon & maria il "last tango in paris" ...

  • @Lucia0672 It must have been so nice in Paris, I am happy you had a great time. I am glad that you enjoyed this clip and furthermore have such a good taste in films :-)
