Only team in the game to win more than JoePa over his tenure as PSU head coach was Ohio State. So props and a hat tip to them for sure.

However, this night and this game was special for the Penn State team and PSU fans. This is a good rivalry and I look forward to more good games in both Happy Valley and the Horseshoe.

Also, Penn State suffered the Dark Years from 2000-2004, so those shouldn't be factored in (except MAYBE 2002), and many times PSU came close to being conference co-champs, such as 1993, 1996, 1997, 2006, and 2009. Look at the entire body of work and PSU doesn't look so bad. Look at how many seasons PSU finished 6-2 or better in conference (some years that's good enough to win the crown).

We nearly beat the Buckeyes in Columbus before handing it over on a silver platter, we nearly beat Michigan with our third string QB, and Wisconsin it was that offsides kickoff bit but still, I'm willing to call that a loss, but still, we'd have won the conference and gotten the Rose Bowl bid (head to head), regarldess of whether or not Notre Dame flat out wiped our asses (which I admit they did), since they're not in conference.

Penn State was no where close to winning the conference in 06, you're delusional if you think that. Unless you think getting mauled by Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin en route to 4th in the conference is almost winning the crown, and that's not even bringing up the beat down Notre Dame handed them a week before Michigan wrecked their season. Penn State has not been anything close to dominant in the conference, 3 titles in 17 seasons is mediocre at best.

@gottagivafight Actually, Penn State has mostly been a dominant force in the Big Ten outside of 2000-2004. 1993-1997 was a strong stretch of years for Penn State, 1999 PSU was #2 until collapsing late in the season, PSU won the conference in 2005 and 2008 while being close to winning in 2006 and 2009. You only lead 13-12 in the series, that's hardly domination, but let me remind you of a number I'm sure you haven't forgotten: 63-14. Often used as a measuring stick for bad Buckeye losses.
